100 Days Left: Are You in the Photographs Yet?

There are barely over 100 days left in 2026.

Which seems impossible, because I'm reasonably certain January was about eleven minutes ago, right?!

But here we are. We've entered the “ber” months, the holidays are on their way, and photography busy season is about to arrive.

And it made me realize something:

If you haven't been photographed this year, now is a really good time to change that.

Not just because holiday cards are coming. Not just because everyone in the family loves photographs. And not just because January will arrive and suddenly everyone will realize their headshot is four hairstyles and seven years out of date.

Because photographs matter.

Give something that doesn't become clutter.

We have enough stuff.

Seriously. We do. All of us. For real.

But a portrait of your children? Your family? Your parents? Yourself? That's different.

A framed photograph isn't something somebody eventually throws into the donation pile. It becomes part of your home and, eventually, part of your family's history.

And yes—portrait gift certificates count. You can give someone the experience and the finished artwork instead of attempting to guess which air fryer they haven't already received.

Celebrate people while they're right here.

Celebrate your kids.

Celebrate your marriage.

Celebrate your friendships.

Celebrate your parents.

And—for the love of little green apples—celebrate yourself.

You do not need to lose twenty pounds first. You don't need a different haircut. You don't need to wait until life is less chaotic.

You are currently living the part of your life that someday you'll wish you had more photographs of.

Put yourself on your own walls.

I will forever maintain that your family portrait deserves to be larger than your television.

We devote an enormous piece of wall space to something that will be obsolete in ten years, while the people we love most often live as tiny images inside our phones.

That is backward!

I want you to have photographs you can touch. Artwork you walk past every morning. Something your children will eventually fight over.

And yes, there's still time.

There are a little over 100 days left.

Enough time for a portrait.

Enough time for new headshots before 2027.

Enough time to make something beautiful for someone you love.

And enough time to finally get yourself into the photographs.
