All kinds of workshops! Since the artist side is strong over here, we also embrace the darkroom and alternative processes. What are alternative processes? I'm glad that you asked... They're all different and fun ways to print your photography. Nineteenth century printing processes. They range from water color to palladium silver and everything in between.
Since art and photography are my passion, combined with years of teaching that I simply can't let go of, I want to share my love of funky, different, historical processes and all things photography. This means one day I can be teaching "How to shoot on manual" to a group of people who want to learn how to take their camera off of AUTO (which includes walking INTO a camera obscura so you truly see what each thing does to the camera....it's fascinating).... and then next day might be a day of pure alchemy with all kinds of chemistry. It means you're never too "new" or too "seasoned" to come play at our studio for a workshop!
There are two workshops coming up in October! I will be teaching these for the Professional Photographers of America, so you'll register through them, not me. They are full day classes and they cost $99 each.
CREATING WITH THE GUM BICHROMATE PROCESS - October 19 starting at 10am and ending at 5:30pm. All you need to bring with you for this class is a thumb drive with a few images. That's it. I provide the rest. We will make digital negatives with your photos and you'll learn how to make a gum print from your negative! We do it all here! I know it's difficult to understand what we're going to do, so here's a little video if you still need info on the process!
LEARNING TO SHOOT ON MANUAL - October 20 starting at 10am and ending at 5:30pm. IF you have a DSLR camera and you just don't know what to do with it if it's not on Auto...I got you. We will spend the day learning about the camera, how to problem solve, how to shoot in low light, bright light and what it takes to adjust it all. We begin the class by going INTO a camera (camera obscura) and learning from the inside out, which is the most effective way to teach it and make it easily understood! Plus, it's super cool because FOR REAL, how often do you get to go inside a camera?
To register for either of these workshops, just go to: PPA Super 1 Day and find them and you can register there!
